Description

Commission for Lissa A. Ledbetter and characters copyright to her, art copyright to me. Kevan is looking at the water goddess Shelle from up in the tree...
"This was surely Shelle. The woman in front of me carried the same aura as the one that had so enchanted me the previous night. Her soft blue hair was now plaited into braids and weaved in an elegant design. The creases in her lavender gown were like ripples in water. With every second that passed she seemed to grow lovelier."

Well I ended up painting her a teal dress which was fine as well :) This was sketched in PS, painted in Painter, except the darker leaves in the tree, and lots of colour/lighting corrections in PS sprinkled throughout the process & at the end (much thanks to Sub again). I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

Beautiful. However, if she is supposed to be a sea goddess I would put more emphasis on the sea and coastline and less on the castle.

Beautiful work again! I love everything but the man in the tree. His hands, in my opinion, don't appear to be connected to the branch.

I love the colors and the light on her dress. Nice job! :)

2 little flaws I was able to find:
- the girls head is in a bit weird position to her neck, which seems to be a bit too long as well... but she's a goddess, so it might have been intended
- the boys hands are too long (forearms too long and hands themselves are too big)

Other than that, it's really nice

I like the light and the mood of the whole picture, I like the woman and her pose. The only thing I don't like is the guy on the tree, even for what Slapo says about :) +8

Some problems with depth in this one, when you look at the painting as a whole it looks flat. Although many elements are well painted, the backround looks like a murial painted on a wall rather than a scene. Good work on the details, overall not a bad painting but I've seen better from you.

I think it's a dreamy image though I'm not all that fond of the guy in the tree, it doesn't really matter what I think

I love the bird she's conjured up! Gorg
most of all, I love how you put light thru her dress, it's just what really makes this image for me

great work+9

Hi Linda , Nice work as usual... A very dreamy image here. Maybe a few details to consider revisiting but thats just my humble opinion.

I think my favorite part is the translucence of her dress...it replicates the look of some ocean waves when light hits them. Since she's a water goddess I thought that was pretty nifty.

I think the flatness is due to a lack of contrast in some of ththe forground elelments...perhaps even a distant mountain range would work that issue as well....

Still, it's a good work...I take it there will be a WIP up on your website like usual?

Keep it up Linda (thumbup)
