Description

Phew, finally finished this one. 95% done is PS7, this took a looooong time.

Spot the LOTR influences! The idea behind this was inspired by a description of Rivendell from... I forgot :p . TV special or one of them art books. I went a little nuts with some of the details but I'm more or less pleased with the outcome. C&C will be much appreciated.

Her foot is to small but overall its a beautiful painting. The fabric is wonderful and the colors/light is great.

so graceful ... i think i stared at her dress for ages :) you did a wonderful job , if you'll make posters out of it, tell me ;)

that does it. I'm not going to join Epilogue's contest. My entry would look ridiculous. Colors are wonderful, as is clothing and leaves and mostly everything...
Guess I'll give +8 of 8...

There however is some problems too, her head is bit too big and her left arm is way too long compared to her right arm, the elbow is much lower than right elbow. Oh and is that foot coming under her dress? It's maybe a bit small if it is..

Love the textures, especially those in the background, but have to agree about the fooot looking way to small, or if it isnt a foot i just looks out of place

Beautiful face and excellent detail on the staff's crystal. I particularly like the sense of light.

i really like the background and everything but the head. it seems a bit nonrealistic in an otherwise realistic setting... .

I saw this too at epilogue. And i think we uploaded our pics on the same day.You did a wonderful job on the background. The colours really sets the mood. However i find that some definitions on the dress and its fold aren´t correct.Other then that i really like the mod of the picture.

How... Beautiful!!! How did you do the clothes? Did you use any reference? The mood, the background, the face... All is just gorgeus. Keep up the good work!!!

Despite the few errors, beautiful job!! Wonderful colors and details!

I like ow you depict the theme. The withered vine, menacing plants, rose patels falling from the aged altar, and the weathered, cracking wall and stairs, etc. All together they forms a strong contrast against the woman, and this seems to reflect an eternal beauty yet longliness in her. This create a sense of drama and make you wonder about the story behind the scene.

Lovely colour and impressive details as usual. There seems to be multiple light sources with equal strength and similar tonality, and in my opion that somehow flatten the image. Nevertheless it's a beatiful work :)

Looking to the picture I can understand it took such long time. It's full of details. It's a pleasure to look at it [+9]

Thanks for the comments :) The foot I agree is too small, a lot have mentioned that and I tried making it slightly bigger. It's really supposed to be the just the tip poking out. I also tried working a bit more on the shoulder/chest area, give it more anatomy definition plus some cast shadows that should be there, but weren't. There is a new details link, check it out. :)

Ilya: thank you! I like Socar's art very much but I doubt my art is worthy to be compared to hers. ;)

giza: that was exactly what I was aiming for. A romantic/classical image with a touch of fantasy.

tarrega: I can't believe you're the only who who noticed that! Truth is it did take me a long time, mostly because I couldn't get it right so I had to paint over it again and again and again... what you see is my best attempt, I'll try to do better next time.

MayYeo: I did use references for the clothes, anything from pictures on the net to my own pajamas :p I used the refes to get a general feel of the fabric and how the creases and folds look like, then I paint what I learned from the pictures etc.

amoeba: I had major problems with the lighting (just check this out ;)) What I had in mind was the light from the back is cooler and the light from the front/right is warmer--didn't work that well. As for that flattening the image, I was hoping the figure as a whole has enough value contrast with the background so it would stand out. I think something can definitely be done with the lighting on the stairs, though I'm not sure what. I'm confused enough as it is. :p

Stunning work, awesome work on the colors and composition.
Perhaps the light reflection on her hairs is slightly too bright.
Would be better if you darken it a little bit I think.
The light could even be a little bit more colorized to "warm", just try it, I think
it would enhance the whole mood and contrast.

I agree with the others on the anatomy problems....not sure about the lighting because I'm not good with lighting myself. I noticed that with the stairs some of it looks like stone whereas other bit look like wet clay. ;)

I'm just going to have to give you my top score here- you way outdo anything I could ever do!

This really is absolutely divine.. but that should be fairly obvious to you by now due to the comments and rating. :) You done good!

The lighting on her hair is amazing, as is her expression. The warm colors look wonderful. Her dress is SO well done - all those folds, yay! This is one of the best pieces of artwork that I have seen in a while. Just amazing - highest marks from me. :)
